You may think drug addiction and crime is not your problem, but if you don’t want it in your community – you can do something to make a difference.

There are so many ways you can get involved in our County and help make a positive impact that is also rewarding. Ask yourself what your unique talents are. What can you get behind and feel passionate about?  These suggestions are just a few. Send us more and we will add them to the list.
  1. The Hope Center needs volunteers through several different outreach programs.
  2. The Food Pantry not only needs donations you can shop for and bring to them, they also need workers to help them with sorting and dispersing food.
  3. The Care Train may seem like a seasonal effort, but it actually works all year to provide Christmas love to families, seniors and disabled adults in need. You can donate, adopt a family, volunteer and participate in the auction.
  4. There’s at least eight senior care facilities in Marysville alone – not to mention Richwood and Plain City. Seniors enjoy companionship, visits and entertainment such as puzzles, games and much more. See how you can be a part of making their days even more joyful.
  5. Our schools are in need of coaches, substitute teachers and volunteers. Prevention for children is one of our best solutions to keep drugs and crime out of this county.
  6. Upward is a fantastic program in Union County. There’s a Marysville and Richwood chapter and they are always in need of coaches, mentors and referees for basketball and soccer.
  7. The United Way of Union County has events all year round that need volunteers to make them successful.
  8. Hospice care is open to volunteers to assist with patients and families during this difficult and transitioning time.
  9. Young adults who’ve exited the foster care system need support after emancipation. You can mentor young adults to make the right choices and feel valued.
  10. Stuff the Bus is a campaign to raise funds and supplies for all families who may not be able to afford school needs for children in our schools. Help gain more awareness and collections.
  11. Blessings in a Backpack is run out of Amy Zweinski’s home and she feeds more than 85 children every weekend throughout the school year. She could use support. Other areas in Union County could use this effort as well.
  12. Our churches need support. The roles and needs are limitless from volunteering at events, ushers, media, Sunday school – there is a need.
  13. Big Brothers and Big Sisters needs qualified mentors to change the life for the better for children.
  14. Historic appreciation helps pave the way for future. Our historic societies and preservation teams need support in our communities. They will welcome more involvement!
  15. Did you know the Habitat for Humanity of Union and Delaware Counties provides affordable homes to deserving families and also sells furniture, construction materials and appliances with all funds supporting the cause? You can help them by donating, volunteering and building awareness of the programs.
  16. Business owners are needed to contribute with RABA, PCABA and Marysville businesses for ways to continue and build a strong community of locally owned and operated solutions. Can you help?
  17. The humane society needs help with fostering pets, finding forever homes for pets and getting supplies to support the pets and pay for veterinarian care.
  18. Parenting support is crucial for young mothers and fathers struggling with this new journey. You could mentor and assist in the transition to help make them more successful.
  19. Give blood or plasma. The Red Cross of Union County has drives and need and will communicate with you where your blood was used to serve others.
  20. Depending on various circumstances, there’s anywhere from 30 or more foster children in need within Union County. The need for families to love and support these children is constantly growing.
  21. The Union County Grand Prix has several 5k efforts annually that need participants. Here’s the list.
  22. The Union County Operation Fit Kids is geared to help all children be active and healthy. They need volunteers.
  23. 5,4,3,2,1 is an effort to help end childhood obesity. They need advocates.
  24. The Union County Drug Free Coalition is a community coalition dedicated to positively changing substance use among youth and adults over time. Volunteer opportunities are abound.
  25. The New Path Pregnancy Resource Centers have locations in Richwood and Marysville and are dedicated to helping young and unwed mothers and fathers bring healthy babies into our world. They need volunteers to mentor and support them.
  26. Merge and Purge. There are organizations like the Hope Center and Habitat Restore that take your unwanted items and give them to families that need them. Clean out and give!
  27. Clean up. Walk our trails, parks and city space and help us clean them up! All assistance will help us in furthering our limited resources.
  28. Community Care Day and every day. United way has an annual care day to fix up homes and neighbors in need but there are many that can use support all year long. You can mow, weed eat, and spruce up many areas in need anytime.
  29. Bloggers wanted! Team Marysville needs writers about the many things, people, and places that make Uptown Marysville a special place.
  30. Goodwill is always accepting donations; bring your unwanted clothing, furniture, appliances etc. to the goodwill near you.
  31. The Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities is always on the lookout for volunteers!  You can make a difference in the lives of people in Union County who have a developmental disability when you volunteer your time and talents.
  32. Clean out your house and have yard sale and give the proceeds to a charity of your choice.
  33. Memorial Health is always accepting adult and student volunteers, you can help with the meals on wheels program, help out at the information desk, help care for patients and much more.
  34. Make a community garden grow. Have a knack for coaxing vegetables from your yard? The Growing Matters team helps Local Matters create gardens throughout the community.
  35. Become a literacy volunteer, literacy volunteers can give people the joy of reading for pleasure-and boost employment and education opportunities.
  36. Become at house warmer for the Ronald McDonald house and help families feel comfortable during whatever they may be going through.
  37. Become an advocate for children, Delaware and Union County’s CASA Programs advocate for every child in Delaware and Union County that is involved in an abuse, neglect, or dependency case.
  38. Host an exchange student.
  39. Be a role model in a child’s life by becoming a part of the local girl and boy scout tribes in Union County
  40. Join Union County Guardianship Services and become a guardian to someone in need.
